I wonder why KUTV and KSL are having two long-time TV anchors retire on the same night? Are they trying to compete? Apparently so.
In one corner, you have Dick Nourse, a guy who has been on the air at one television station for 43 years! This guy covered the Vietnam War for KSL.
In the other corner you have Michelle King, a former homecoming queen at BYU who’s retiring after 29 years.
Who will you watch on November 28 . . . Neither?

Who watches local news anymore? I usually go to desnews.com and sltrib.com when I am curious about what’s going on around here.
Russ-
A correction, KSL’s anchor’s last name is ‘Nourse’ not ‘Norris.’
I’m watching Dick and Dini on KSL!
Neither. I stopped watching local news a long time ago - there’s only so many sensationalistic bumpers (i.e. “There’s a hidden killer in your asparagus, tune in at 10 to save your family.”) or blatant network programming disguised as news (Fox 13 and its inexplicable American Idol lovefest come to mind) that one can take before the institutions have lost all credibility.
Actually, it’s Dick NOURSE. (formerly NURSE).
long time KUTV news watcher here… I wouldn’t watch KSL news if it were force-fed down my throat with a plunger.
But that’s just me.
Interestingly, the announcement (and timing) of Michelle King’s retirement came a week or more after KSL announced Dick Nourse was stepping down.
Another tidbit: Michelle and I met as freshmen at BYU when we both lived in on-campus housing at Deseret Towers. (Michelle was dating my friend Karl.)
Both Dick and Michelle are quite good at their craft, and they will be missed.
One more thing. I’ll probably watch the Nourse lovefest on KSL, but Tivo KUTV to catch the King lovefest.
Whaddya expect? I’m a news-geek.
TV? What’s that?
I’ll probably watch Dick Nourse. I think it will be more interesting since the guy has covered so many different things.
Is the Bomb!
Frankly, I think KSL is much better than 2 or 4.
