Why Bush should Veto part 2

Remember the “extra stuff” added to the bill that’s getting all this attention because Bush said he was going to veto?

Remember the $25 million earmarked for California spinach growers? ($3.7 billion in total for agricultural relief in California and the midwest) Remember how Nancy Pelosi (D-California) is at the forefront of pushing this bill? Remember how Harry Reid (who is also at the forefront of pushing this bill) has $20 million earmarked for killing crickets in his state? Remember how Nanci Pelosi tried to add minimum wage into this bill? (If it passed, Dems could tout passing a (forced) minimum wage bill. If it didn’t they could blame it on the Republicans).

I’ve chimed in on the minimum wage issue before with “Socialism is one of the Democrat congress’ top priorities

Keep in mind there’s another hot-button issue here as well. The bill also includes $10 billion for body armor that would protect the troops. Essentially, it sounds like a ploy to make the president look like an a-hole because they know it won’t pass. The Dems can then say that Bush rejected $10 billion in gear to protect the troops, and people will buy it. (Does it really cost $10 billion to protect the troops if they were to all come home by October 1? No.)

A final thought
Do any of us really like turning on the television to see soldiers dying in Iraq? Do we really like to hear that hundreds of people die each month from suicide bombers? No. Aboslutely not.

But, don’t blatantly lie and decieve the American people into believing that this is only about President Bush vetoing a bill that brings home the troops with a timeline and protects them in the meantime. This bill is so full of pet projects that the media isn’t reporting about that they are doing an incredible disservice to our country. President Bush should absolutely veto this bill because it’s a sheep in wolves clothing.
