What is the secret of the Yankees future success?
Do the Yankees want to begin each season competing for a World Series championship and declaring the season a bust if they don’t reach it? Or do the Yankees want to field competitive teams that consistently make the playoffs and sell out the new stadium? via New York Times
Hmmm.
The bigger question is what do you do when fans, politicians, entertainers and Yankee players all want Joe Torre to stay and not get fired after Steinbrenner hinted that would likely happen. I mean Joe Torre’s name is mentioned in google news right now almost as much as the politicians who are running for president.

Sadly, Torre is probably done for. I don’t see any way they would be able to reconcile at this point. He’s had a good run in NY and I’m sure there will be plenty of other opportunities for him should he be interested.
I’m a die-hard Yankee fan. It is interesting how there are so many rumors flying and talk here and there about what should happen to the Yankee skipper. I personally don’t think Torre has been the problem. Pitching, like putting in golf, has been an issue for the Yankees for a few years. I love the Rocket, Mussina, and even Pettitte, but the bottom line is that they are nearing or past their prime. Pettitte is debatable but the others need to call it good and seal their spot in the Hall of Fame.
The great news for the Yanks is that they have young pitching that’s up and coming. Firing Torre doesn’t seem to be the best answer.
