Superdell needs a PR guy part deux
I wrote a post a while ago called “Dell Schanze needs a PR guy” and I got a comment on the post that may very well have been by Mr. Totally Awsome himself. I’m not sure, but I decided to revisit it after reading today “Dell Schanze sentenced for lying to police.”
Part of the original commet read “A PR person tries to say things in a way so as to make everyone happy.” Um, yes, we do. We try to make the media happy and the people happy. It is possible to have a win-win situation and still tell the truth. But what Dell did was call the media “Angels of Satan.” And just for fun, let’s say Dell is right and that the media really are “angels of Satan” (I can’t believe I am even toying with this), you still don’t say it. It isn’t lying to not say something or to reveal all that you know. This IS NOT lying. One example of lying is telling someone (like the Draper police) you didn’t do something that you did do (like brandish a firearm), which Superdell is paying the price for with 365 days probation and a $2400 fine.
All calling the media “angels of Satan” did for Dell was make him look like he is crazy (literally crazy) even if it is true as he says. Now, do I feel the media does maybe “pick” on him? Yea, I do. But when you give sound bytes like that, they love you because of it. Someone with experience in media relations could have helped him turn this whole situation into something more positive, and they could have done it saying nothing but the truth.

p.s.
Superdell, I hope it all works out for the best. Lifetime service was a nice thing to have on a computer.

Anybody who makes such goofy faces like that should be put on probation.
All joking aside, I believe Superdell got what was coming to him.

That was a great post. I thought the same thing all along and throughout his ordeal. Politis Communications could probably have helped keep Del in business.
