Republican Tommy Thompson drops out of the race for president
Former governor of Wisconsin Tommy Thompson just dropped out of the race for U.S. president.
Thompson, who also served in the Bush cabinet, did not meet the expectations he set for himself in the Ames Republican straw poll held Saturday.

Thompson was regularly showing support of 1-2 percent in the polls.
