Radiohead may not need iTunes, but it still needs record labels

Despite Radiohead’s reported cult status, and though labels have struggled with the advent of online radio and filesharing, record companies still have the broadest reach in mainstream radio world. via MarketingVox

Good point. But, do you still listen to music on the radio? I do, sort of. Reach is one thing, but it has to matter.

I gave up radio long ago… Except for a little Free Capitalist on the drive home. :)

Music on the radio is a waste of time, because it has become the tease for endless advertising and mindless drivel from hosts who think they transcend the medium.

The iPod plug, for me, is priceless, while radio is now a source of information.

Big record labels are becoming dinosaurs right before their own eyes. Their greed and need for control will be their downfall. Independent representation (as consultants or facilitators) will be the new paradigm.
