Exploring the Art & Science of Marketing
Mitt Romney and Rudy Giuliani. If I were CEO . . .
One of the things we discussed on Internet Voices Radio today was who I would “hire” as President of the United States if I were a CEO in a position to do so.
I essentially told the host that based on the “resumes” of Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama, there is no way I would hire either of them. Not a chance. I don’t think “the board” would allow either of them to be hired either.
Reading the Resume
If you have ever read a resume that is vague on detail but full of fancy words, you know that the person is probably trying to make himself (or herself) sound better than they are. This is the impression I get when I read Hillary’s bio and Barack’s bio.
One of the first things they tell you about resume writing is that you should detail what you did and what difference you made. Measurability is a great thing. Read Mitt Romney’s bio and Rudy Giuliani’s bio, and what do you get? Numbers. Statistics. Measurable results. Clinton and Obama may have that in their background, but it isn’t in their bios, which are sort of like resumes.
So what’s the Point?
The point is if you throw away all the political rhetoric and look at candidates as though you were hiring a new CEO, which we are, Giuliani and Romney have pretty impressive resumes. This leads me to wonder if Romney and Giuliani might both start to focus on the national debt and their ability in tackling huge debt. This could be a major point for each of them because a lot of people are crying for change, and they have mega experience is this area.

Political wisdom of the Clinton campaign

Looking at the media relations strategy of the Clinton campaign, they never cease to amaze with their skill. Here’s the headline: Clinton chairman: Obama would be good running mate a) I think they really mean it. b) It positions Hillary Clinton as the President, the winner and the “real” nominee for the Democratic party. c)

Presidential politics: a very misleading headline in the Deseret News

This misleading headline is found in the Deseret News of all places. Unfortunately for Mitt Romney it ran via the Associated Press. Headline Huckabee takes big lead in Iowa GOP race, Romney 14 percent to Huckabee’s 47 percent When you read the details you find it’s a blatant distortion of the actual story. The Truth
Could Mike Huckabee be the next U.S. president?

Mike Huckabee has passed Mitt Romney in polling numbers in Iowa, and frankly, he’s been doing a better job during the candidate debates. – He’s second in Republican polling right now, and sometimes I think Giuliani has a little too much baggage. – He’s from the same town as Bill Clinton (Hope, Arkansas). Population 10,467.
Do you believe the bible? Republican responses.

I you were in the middle of a presidential debate and someone asked you if you believe every word of the bible, what would you say? Here’s what Rudy, Mitt and Mike had to say, and frankly, I think Mike Huckabee did the best job with this question when put on the spot. It sounds
The truth shows its face on Utah Vouchers

$9.3 million was approved by the Utah legislature for use on vouchers until it went to referendum and was voted down. So what’s going to happen to the money? It’s not going to public education because that’s not where the money came from. But again, voucher opponents and many teachers led a lot of people

Are you kidding me? What the guy in the video doesn’t realize is that the property owner tied fish line to the sign, which was connected to his house and a ringing bell.

Russ,
Given that you raise the issue of our economy, I’m curious what your opinion is of Ron Paul.
To get a sense of his economic expertise, I highly recommend reading this article. This one‘s good as well.
Ron Paul has long been a champion of fixing our fiscal disaster and would do an excellent job if placed in an executive position to do so. I fear that others, such as Romney and Giuliani, lack the basic understanding of how our economy really works, as Paul outlines in the articles I’ve cited.
What are your thoughts?

My thought is “Who is Ron Paul?”
Ron Paul might be the best fit for President, but realistically he’s not going to get the nomination because the actors are already on the stage and he’s not. At the moment even Romney, who is in the top three, is a longshot, based simply on the fact that his name recognition is so low.

While saddening, I fully agree with this. A cursory study of the mainstream media will show how controlled it is, and easily explains why certain people receive overwhelming media attention (Anna Nicole Smith, Bald Britney, etc.) while others who should, do not (Ron Paul, Ignacio Ramos, Jose Compean, Security and Prosperity Partnership, and a host of other important people, policies, and events).
Thank God for the internet.

I agree that Ron Paul doesn’t really have a chance at the presidency because of his lack of name recognition, but I think Romney actually does have a pretty good shot. Romney isn’t very well know to most people but a lot of politically active conservatives are aware of him and support him, and at the moment he just needs to win over enough Republicans to get the party nomination.
