Have you seen this video of rats crawling all over the floor of a KFC/Taco Bell? It’s disgusting. It’s a huge problem for both of these companies as millions of people attach the mental picture of rats to KFC and Taco Bell.
The Problem with Franchising
Franchises aren’t really under the corporate umbrella, which means the PR department now has a crisis on it’s hands because of a a rogue restaurant that apparently doesn’t mind feeding food to customers after rats have had their nibble worth. Restaurants have quality control measures in place as mandated by the parent company, but the actions of one careless franchisee just did major damage to the entire company.

I worked at a Clean Flicks franchise when they were sued by Hollywood producers. Since we owned the name Clean Flicks, we had to shut down. But the next week my former partner started “Edited Clean Flicks” in the same location with the same movies. This doesn’t apply to larger chains, but I think franchising is an interesting business none the less. Good post.
Restaurants are filthy places because of the sheer amount of the refuse they generate. I’ve worked in kitchens for years and there isn’t ONE restearant that I’d unhesitatingly recommend to anyone. Furthermore, one place you should definitely NOT be eating at are fast food chains such as BK, KFC, Taco Bell, McDonald’s etc. People should not have to see rats in order to decide to not go back and eat at KFC (by the way, they irradiate their chickens!! which means you’re eating radioactive isotopes with every KFC meal!! the rats is what you’re worried about?) I never eat at fast foods and I’m not particularly rich or well off. The idea of paying a couple of bucks in exchange for 800-or-so calories sure sounds tempting until I consider the health costs of such a choice. My advice is buy and prepare your own food, especially your kids’ food. Eat at home as much as you can, you’ll add years of life and prosperity for yourself.
