HHE Signs Deal with Sony BMG
I have to give a shout out to a client of mine for landing a deal with Sony BMG Music Entertainment to distribute some of the music giant’s music videos through it’s download store Zvue.com (“z-view”). They have access to artists from more than 20 labels! That means we have access to 20 labels!
Personally, I like that they have taken a different approach from the “it only plays on an iPod” strategy. If you buy a video from HHE, you can pretty much bet it will play on your portable media player or computer. And the Sony BMG deal is just a small part of it all. They cut deals with CBC, eMusic, Anime Network and a host of others in the past few months.
On a tangential sidenote . . . the CTO of HandHeld Entertainment is a guy by the name of Carl Page (no relation to me), but he just happens to be closely related to Google co-founder Larry Page. And it just so happens that while I was at CES 2006 this year, Carl brought Larry to the HandHeld Entertainment booth at the very time that I was in the can . . . away from the trade show flor. So, I missed meeting Larry Page because I had too much to drink that morning. I would have told him thanks because he’s created some amazing tools that have given me access to information in a whole new way. Thanks Larry Page!
Okay, off the tangent. Way to go HandHeld Entertainment team on the Sony BMG deal.
