Exploring the Art & Science of Marketing
Free newswires you should be using for PR
I hear a lot of talk about how great PRWeb is for online PR, but I have seen better SEO results from other (but similar) services. I think PRWeb is generally a better solution because they offer so much more in terms of additional services, but as for SEO results . . . you decide.
I am going to post the names of other online press release services, but I’m doing this with the expectation that the sites don’t get abused because when they get abused they start to have little use. And the winners are . . .
- PRLeap and PRZoom. These sites are strict on what they allow to be published (like PRWeb), and you generally have a two-day wait for your news release to go live unless you want to sponsor or pay for quicker approval. These aren’t the only ones out there, but if you do a little searching you will find them.

I heard that PRWeb is no longer free. I think it was recently bought out by people.

I used to use PRWeb.com for every press release, but since they were sold and have changed their pricing structure, I may seek other alternatives. They had a great model – one I used for all of my clients – but these changes don’t seem beneficial to my small business clients. I’ll be curious to see how/if their service changes.

I use Newswiretoday.com and PRZOOM and found those two very professional with a very large visibility. PRZOOM is the best so far on the market. Very strict on content.

I agree for business PRZOOM is a very good press releases distribution website.
I recommend also NewswireToday as well.

Unfortunately, most of the “free” newswires listed in this article are now “pay for play.” The only free services listed here are PRZoom and Your Story. Some of the others want hundreds to distribute a release! Hell, I have a Cision Account. Why pay hundreds to them when you can create your damn distribution lists? Hope they start going bust soon…

Since charging these sites have lost their usefullness. As publicists, wheather or not we have the budget, I feel we have a responsisbility to utilize free media as much as possible to discourage the control of information by the dollar.
