Bandwagon 2.0 . . . or good idea?

PR Web has decided to add trackback functionality to its press release distribution service. Is this a good idea?

Bloggers all think so, which means a good press release distributed via PR Web could very well turn viral very quickly. But, how will Google’s algorithms treat this? That is yet to be determined. What will be the effect?

Thank you for the post. I may comment on this more from my blog later today. One of the purposes behind the whole PRWeb trackbacks initiative is to encourage dialogue in the blogoshpere around our press release content. This is not designed as a Google play. (However, if that ends up being a side benefit that would be nice.) Not everything needs to about Google. We feel that is important to encourage discussion around our press release content. Trackbacks seem to be the most promising way to do this at present.

Here’s some evidence that the blogosphere is responding positively to press releases from PRWeb.
