APX Alarm shows how to manage a PR crisis

Provo, Utah’s own Apx Alarm had some bad press in Indiana recently, and I have to say they did an amazing job responding in the press. (You may not be a fan of summer sales companies, but that’s not the point). Watch and see what they did to respond.

Yeah, that’s pretty amazing PR. The net result of the whole thing probably gained them several more customers.

2 things:

1. If this is the only thing they can find for a lead story, I’m moving there, because it’s the sleepiest city in the country.

2. Gephardt (KUTV Salt Lake City) did a similar story on APX last night, and Inbar went on camera again. The issue was handled in much the same way.

The dude deserves a raise - he’s single-handedly saving this company from becoming just another floatie in the sewage that is typical in the alarm business.

This is great stuff. However, if the VP is having to go on camera multiple times for the same reason they need to address the issue by saying they are going to start requiring a certified training course for each installer, etc. Yeah they did a good job at making themselves look good after a potential mess, but an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Still great PR.

I would love to be able to talk to the darling Jack Inbar.
I have filed a complaint against his company with the bbb and atty gen office. Nothig has gotten resolved yet. They were suppose to move my system b/c I moved and yet they are still charging me the $45 for the last 3 months w/o the system. It is still installed at the old house where the new owners are not happy!! Michelle

VP flies anywhere to solve a problem…on TV.

If your local TV station isn’t doing a story, then f$%# you. The only reason he showed up was because their bad service made it on TV. APX is notorious for illegal sales tactics and installers who don’t know what a screwdriver is. No one should feel safe with an APX system.

I agree that the VP obviously doesn’t personally appear on every door to solve the problems. I have worked for APX for three years and I personally don’t feel that I have ever been part of a shady deal. I honestly feel I have given many people a superb system. I have given my all at times to help make people happy and comfortable with thier systems. As for the comment on being notorious for the bad things mentioned I would would have to say that sadly you must have had a bad experience, but the whole company is not bad. I have done good and I have had many happy customers. I have had conversations with people that were helped because of a system that I installed. I’m sorry for your bad experience.

Excellent PR job, unlike the Platinum Protection PR job in Milwauke this past summer (2007), which can also be seen on Youtube under “Platinum Protection.” I, too, have worked for Apx Alarm–for the summer of 2007, and sold over 150 accounts. Apx has impressed me by being the most professional, qualified, upfront, honest, and hard-working company not only in the summer sales world, but in the alarm industry itself. I have also seen the benefits of Apx Alarm technology pump up the protection times ten and greater, of homes that already had alarm systems from other companies and were out of contract by the time I met them.

#9 Apx Alarm: An Example of Keyword Research | Russell Page on 03.03.08 at 8:48 am

[...] Keyword research is an interesting ball of wax. Sometimes you find that customers are looking for your products with the exact phrases that you think they are. Other times you find that keywords are completely different. As an example, I did some quick research for a hypothetical pay-per-click campaign (PPC) for Apx Alarm. [...]
