You blog? Your hired.

edelman rubel caldwellErin Caldwell got a new job at Edelman. Do I know her? No. Edelman is the biggest private public relations firm in the world. They are ahead of the game.

So, what’s the point? Her new boss Mike Krempasky had this to say: “we decided that Erin was head and shoulders above the competition before we met her. Why? Well, because she blogs of course.”

Edelman blogger Steve Rubel (Micropersuasion.com) even took notice. Congrats to Erin.

Fly on the wall

Well, I was more than a fly on the wall . . .

If you didn’t read yesterday, LANDesk is getting purchased for $416 million by Avocent. Read about it at Utah Tech Watch, and MidMarketMaven (Devin Thorpe).

Dennis Wood and vSpring asked Politis Communications to write the press release that came from vSpring since LANDesk is a vSpring portfolio company, and I just wanted to take a blog post minute to say congratulations to LANDesk and to vSpring and partners.

LANDesk was actually spun out of Intel here in Utah about three and a half years ago and became a private company when vSpring Partner Ed Ekstrom saw the opportunity.

“The acquisition agreement, which is expected to close within 60 to 75 days, provides for total consideration of $416 million, including $200 million in stock, $200 million in cash and $16 million in assumed options. The transaction value may also be increased by up to $60 million if LANDesk meets certain financial targets specified in the agreement.”

Kit Kat dominates Japan

kit-katThis story about how Kit Kat became the No.1 selling candy bar brand in Japan is too good to even regurgitate. Read it for yourself.

I just have to add that Kit Kats are probably one of my favorite candy bars. I would love to try some of the flavors they get in other countries. Anyone for a blood orange Kit Kat? How about Lucious Lime or a Green Tea-flavored Kit Kat? You could always go for the PimpKat over at PimpMySnack.com.

10,000 Company Histories

funding universeFundingUniverse.com just put up one of the coolest directories of content I have seen in a long time. They now have 10,000 company histories on their website.

UPDATE:I found a complete history of Nintendo on here, which spans from 1889-2004.

Here’s a few examples.
Larry H. Miller Group, Nu Skin Enterprises, Nike, Napster, Google, WordPerfect Corporation (outdated) and many more. Wow. Wow! They have info on sales, dates formed, founders, etc… Very cool. This is a treasure trove.

I imagine Paul Allen had something to do with this since he does have a background in library science.

Eu nao estou so

Word on the street is the phrase “Eu nao estou so” means “I am not alone” in Portuguese.

Those of you who are fans of Lost heard the phrase last night on TV when the double-crossing Russian guy tells the group of stranded campers that the injured woman really said “Thank you for helping me.”
